Our Story
My love for coffee began many years ago, embedded in the proverbial burning the candle at both ends studying deep into the night. Coffee has always been an integral social part of my life and the center of many plans, discussions and key decisions which has seen me meander from the mission field of Kenya, to cricket fields coaching cricket and guiding and shaping young lives in the field of education. The bottom line is that coffee is and always will be a fundamental part of my life.
As a South African, language is a rich part of my life and the term "broer", which is used in different languages simply means "brother", hence the colloquialism "brew" to describe the closeness that I have with coffee and people. As a passionate people's person, coffee has stayed at the center of my interaction with people on all levels.
So much so that I have embarked upon distributing East Africa's finest blends from the greenery of Rwanda, the Rift Valley in Kenya to the slopes of Mt Elgon in Kapchorwa in Uganda. The first story takes us to Kapchorwa where I had the privilege of meeting two exceptional ladies. Both were widows involved in the Sipi women coffee roasters program employed by the local Industry Co-operative to grow coffee for distribution throughout Uganda and further afield. Mamma Teddy and Mamma Joy were the heart and soul of the program and continued the 660 year legacy of producing the best premium Arabica coffee.
The second story brings us closer to home. In 2023 I was introduced to an amazing family. Ryno and his father, Stanislav Turketti, who own Wiara coffee in Durbanville. Wiara means "faith" in Polish. This resonated so much with my story and has culminated in a growing friendship and mentorship, as they are my roasters, advisors and most of all my inspiration for wanting to connect people with quality coffee—a relationship that has been and always will be the centre of life for so many people!
My slogan "coffee with your best friends" signifies the essence of this relationship and the potential it has to forge the best of friendships, as coffee after all is, our best friend! We now offer quality coffee in 4 roasts with great variety and cultural richness. Pete's Your Brew promises quality service and distribution to match the superiority of our coffee.
